We have expanded the Domaine
from 7 hectares to the current 15, not including the
7 to 8 ha area as yet unplanted for potential expansion.
Over the past 20 years, the old buildings have
been totally restored and redesigned inside. We have
been hampered by the fact that we are near a registered
historical monument ( the Church) and therefore under
heavy constraints.
We expanded the vineyard in acquiring nearby
plots and transforming some areas that were pastures
or fallow lands, but registered as AOC Savennières.
These transformations lasted several years, since they
needed large earthwork investments.
When we first moved here, the machines were still
drawn by horses. We bought tractors. Moreover, since
viniculture techniques have changed over the past decades,
we had to invest in new machines. We also bought a new
wine press to replace the old manual one-first we bought
an electric press, we now have an electronic one. All
the electronic measuring and control equipment did not
exist--we had to acquire it.
After developing the production, it became necessary
to develop the marketing. The French market was targeted
first, mainly, wine stores and restaurants, then we
started exporting. From nothing, we developed a foreign
clientele of professional importers in Europe and North
America .
Administration had to be formalized : we have
computerized everything : book keeping, orders, customs
and excise. Today we have to keep the balance sheet
in mind!
Our daugher Evelyne, who is already involved
in the marketing and the quality research program, and
our son Arnauld, who is more involved with the financial
and accounting aspects, and his wife are now our partners
