Michèle de Jessey, general
manager
I always liked earth, gardening, flowers: this
domaine--its vineyard, its wine, its garden--became
my passion. I have learned everything in the field,
thanks to outstanding technical advisors from the area
and extremely competent neighbours who guided me and
trusted me to the point of electing me President of
the Savennières AOC in 1990 and again in 1993.
(One can not be elected more than twice). I think that
I was the first woman in France to be president of a
wine appellation.
The old employees retired one
after the other and we gradually hired new staff : Bruno
Perray in the cellar Rémi Poitevineau, who comes
from horticultural background, supervises the work out
in the vineyard. They are helped by Hassan and Joël,
who are augmented by seasonal help as necessary. Our
consultant oenologist is Clément Barraut from
the GDDV, who advises us on different aspects of culture
and vinification .
Evelyne de Jessey-Pontbriand
As a child , I have already been fascinated by
" taste " ; my best memories are linked to the sun warm
rasberries and red currents from the old vegetable garden,
fresh goat cheeses , local dark bread, and all the wonderful
meals prepared by our old cook. This passion for " taste
" never left me , and when I came back to France after
many years abroad , working with the vineyard seemed
to me a wonderful way to express it.
I am extremely interested in all the research
going on in the area on the impact of the terroir on
the wine. This is something that I to work on mostly
in order to produce the most perfect, finest and most
complex wine. I have been working for a few years in
the marketing of the wine, developping sales in North
America and Northern Europe
My brother Arnauld and his wife are partners.
All of our children are very interested in the vineyard.
